Happy Holidays! The Construction Law Committee is pleased to announce the following upcoming events:

On January 12, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., a live webcast on the latest developments in green building construction litigation is scheduled to take place. The live webcast will include speakers from the Construction Law Committee, Sean Martin and Kathy Davis. In addition, a representative of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) will provide an update on federal, state and local government roles, the National Green Building Program and the Model Green Home Building Guidelines. He will also address specific green-building standards, such as ICC-700-2008 National Green Building Standard and Leadership in Energy and Design Guidelines (LEED). The webcast will also focus on construction with green-building materials and product liability claims, and offer contract-drafting tips to protect contractors. Further, the webcast is slated to address anticipated insurance coverage issues and available green-building insurance products on the market.

The webcast is entitled “Green Building Construction Litigation: A Comprehensive Review of the Latest Developments” and has been approved for 1.5 hours of CLE credit. Please note that some states do not offer CLE credit for webcasts. For more information please check out the Construction Law Committee’s E-News Flash.

Please be sure not to miss DRI’s Strictly Retail Seminar coming up in March. The seminar is scheduled to take place from March 4, 2010 through March 5, 2010, at the Wyndam Hotel Chicago. Pertinent topics have been selected by industry professionals in a wide range of specialties to reflect the most pressing concerns of in-house legal and claims departments. The seminar will feature a faculty of experienced outside counsel along with representatives from retail companies, insurers, service providers, security firms and others, presenting thorough legal analysis, as well as practical recommendations for addressing real-world problems. The program will be interactive and will foster networking opportunities for clients and outside counsel who are facing many of the same challenges, and can share ideas and resources.

Registration deadlines and other information regarding the Strictly Retail Seminar can be found on DRI’s website and also on the Construction Law Committee’s E-News Flash.

The Construction Law Committee’s annual seminar is scheduled to take place from September 30, 2010 to October 1, 2010, at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Although detailed information about the seminar is not yet available, last year’s seminar in San Francisco was a blast and we hope to see you in Las Vegas in 2010.

For other Construction Law news, please check out the Critical Path. The forthcoming winter edition features, among other things, exciting articles on liquidated damages, accident investigations and the legal duties of architect and design professionals.

Best wishes for an exciting New Year!
